Brakes and the rest....

Right all you stunters......... how often do you look at your brakes? Give the bike a through look over?

Anyone got any horror stories?

yeah i got one,

There i was one saterday morning fitting a new rear tyer after the friday night ride ,i started checking over the bike then i even washed..                                                 then something told me to take the drive sprocket gaurd off and have a look, why i dont know but i did and thank fuc i did cos the clamping bolt had snaped off the shaft thus the drive sprocket was loose infact it was only mm away from comeing of the shaft...how strange but lucky that was..imagine the mess it would of made in my pants not just the road

i do all my checks every friday before i go out..but i some times start rushing and forget things like doing the rear spindle up after changing the rear tyre!!!once i came out of my workshop and straight up on the back wheel, the bike was all over the place but i thought it must be the cold tyres when i got to the ace(bike was all over the place) the rear spindle was sticking out about 2"!!!!!!     scary shit!!

I'm with Ghostie on this one!

I once snapped a drive chain on a ZZR6, accelerated hard to join a duel carriageway then nothing! Ahh  luckly I didnt get collected, the wheel didnt lock up and the chain didnt hit me. Imagin that while stunting, na on second thoughts dont.

I now check my bike over all the time, it's good practice and with the amount of abuse they get you would be a little foolish not too.

I used to look at my brakes quite a lot..... mainly out of concern for my front one !

Still rode the bike though! Gotta say I'm used to riding smashed up bikes with a few teething problems - just gotta know the limits that it puts on you......

....or maybe that's why I have broken so many bones!

Glad to say my front brake is now fixed (cheers R1FAN, Tariq, Coops and Ghostie!) Nice R1 Master cylinder, braided hoses and new front discs....... Thhaaaaaaasssss riiiiiiight!
