As usual I provided the amusement as I switched from riding Goofy to Regular!
Slope was the best we had found it yet - perfectly groomed snow, nice little (?!) jump in the middle that I avoided and R1FAN and WESTY11 found slightly challenging (personally, I thought it was a death trap!!!! )
Slope was almost empty, with just a few kids (speedbumps!) and us on the slope.
I almost performed "Trick of the day" - boarding over a rail backwards. Luckily a Snow Patrol managed to stop me just in time.... as I hadn't even noticed the rail there!!!!!
Mem took some snaps from a safe vantage point in the Slope Cafe (safe and dry!) - so I'll see how they turned out.......
Great mix of beginners (errrr....me, Steve and his mate), intermediates (John etc) and Advanced (R1FAN, Westy11 etc).....
Get on your boards guyz and Girlz - more fun to be had up there..... Freestyle Fredy and Gixxer Junkie (purveyor of the famous "Dead Cat" trick!) were sadly missed!!!!
Will try to take some "on-slope" pics next time ......
Why don't you join us..... don't need any kit up there as it's all surplied..... for £30 for a 2 hour session (although we staid on for 3 hours!).... loadsa funky shops etc up there..... and viewing from the cafe at the bottom of the slope.... excellent Sunday morning out!!!
where is it? I fancy that.. done dry slope once a few years back, great fun just never had transport back then to keep going.. hoping to go boarding over xmas/new year too ..
Really easy to get to..... Straight off junction 14 of the M1.... go straight over about 4 roundabouts (well....round them anyway!).... and then you will see the signs for "Xscape"
I think they even have an Airkix skydiving tunnel there as well!!!!
Give us a shout when you wanna go up there as it's pretty quiet at the moment - so excellent for novice practice! We usually go up on a Friday night (Snowboard Night - lot's of jumps, rails etc) or first thing on Sunday's when it's nice an empty.....
Totally different, and much more fun than Dry Slopes!
we try to go on boarding holidays over cristmas through to april at least 3 if we can but the main one for everyone is normally april 1st ish so if any one fanceys coming then let r1fan know so when it comes to booking time we can post on here for you . normally club med all inclusive we try to get a deal of aboat £800ish and thats for hotel all food and drink ,instruction or guide depending on abilllity flights ,in fact i think the only thing you need is gear unless you hire it there .
As long as you can get up the lift..... and down the slope with at least some attempt at linking turns.... they leave you alone.... especially if you are as amusingly bad as I am!!!!....
I had a go on a dry slope a few months ago (I learnt on one....)... and absolutely hated it!..... get up to MK with us.... should only take you 30 mins to get there!!!!
You don't need to bring anything as you can get all the stuff you need there on hire. You get a board, boots and helmet (if you wear one) in the price.....
I wear Dianese full body armour (God knows I need it!!!).... last time I forgot my hoody.... so I just boarded in a t-shirt and armour....!!! *LOL*
30 mins haha if only ;) definetly gonna do that soon, might see if exo wants to go as well then i dont have such a long journey hehehe would prob be a saturday or sunday.. i tihnk i'll need body armour too lol, how hard can it be tho, strap wood to feet, point down the hill and try not to fall over stopping is easy, just hit the nearest wal/tree/person
Suday Mornings are excellent - slope is always freshly groomed and empty.....
How hard can it be????!!!!..... when you LEAN BACK on the board (like me!)....you go extremely fast with absolutely no control......add a few jumps and a rail or two.....not to mention small kids on skis....oh, yeh....... and the ski lift at the side.....
..... and you'd be amazed how much carnage you can achieve!!!!
