the last pic is cool mate so you gona let me have ago then?? bin on joe's mx bike sat, its wicked. poppin some of the worst wheelies ever but all good fun
Was a good laugh, but i think its alot harder to wheelie at such an open field. The weekend before me and matt were at a tighter bit and my wheelies felt better as i didnt have as much room! Like in my sig, thats going from first to second. But at the field ya get greedy and want the second gear/3rd gear.
Ya still got the front up high, but then the power runs out! Big gearing to be fitted soon
Nice pics mate. Where abouts you riding? Also why did it blow up? Was it due to too little oil? or heat? bearings?
Jesus! I dont want a fourstroke mx bike! A mx forum i go on, seem to be against buyying second hand ones as you dont know how thevye been looked after and it can be big bucks! 2 strokes are alot cheaper to rebuild but they reckon for every 4 rebuils on a 2 stroke it would be one on a thumper, so its pretty even...
Ghostie, do you do your own rebuilds? The bit that will probally cost the most is the barrel. If you can do the Crank etc itll cut costs big style!
For parts, i recommend Ron Humpries Motocross in leighton buzzard, may be a trek but they deliver, and they are KTM/Kwak/Honda/Suzuki main off road dealers and have about every modern KTM bit in stock, maybe worth a call? 01525 384829. Next day delivery!
Yeah id like to come down, but its the travel as i dont have a van myself. After its rebuilt you should maybe come to one of the tracks?
If not 52k probally is faster and could give better tips!
Dunno about the rebuild rate of 4's to 2's but I think it's worse on the smaller 4's like 250's. Nick's 525EXC has been raced from new and he does an event nearly every week he also changes the oil after every race and only uses the KTM Motorex stuff too.
The trouble is with the EXC series bikes is that they only hold 1 litre of oil so you gotta be meticulous with the changes, other than that they are pretty tough.
Agree with Joe about Ron Humphries, he's my local KTM dealer and I get all my service bits from him. Only about half an hour from me so if you need anything picking up I can probably sort that for you mate.
I've also got a man who can when it comes to re-builds and or any servicing or technical advise.
He was if not 'is' the British Enduro Champion and and a good mate of mine just down the road. He won that last race I was in (no surprises there.. LOL) and he knows a thing or two about dirt bikes. His rates are excellent too. Very very cheap and first class service with the added bonus of being able to drop stuff off and pick it up any time I like that suits me as he works from home. He can also get hold of most bits if RH doesn't have it in stock and I think he does specialist machining too.
Let me know if you need any help in that department.
Sorry about last weekend mate at Little London Enduro, I was out of the country all weekend. I'm going up there in May though and also been invited up before for some urgently required practise for my next round which is going to be particularly tough this time.
