ok, wicked bike, the most responsive in its class but they run race ready engines so oil and filter changes every 400 miles and no motorways, you cant keep it pinned for long, not built for that.... otherwise exelent bike i had the t610sm if you remember

Their electrics can be a little unreliable, and getting spares can be somewhat hit and miss, too. Not as unreliable as some, not as reliable as others.

Whether or not it's a good idea depends on where you're going to ride it.

Same goes for the EXC based KTM bikes Pete... 400/450/525 as in frequent oil & filter changes and no motorways.

The LC4 models (640 & 625) are more 'road going' in that they carry proper amounts of oil and can handle motorways though not a pleasant ride The 640 is the proper road bike (like baby David's one) and comes with a 2 year warranty... the 625 is the competition model (like mine) and it has loads more power through different carb, compression ratio and state of tune. Also has smaller tank 9ltr as opposed to 12ltr on 640 etc etc and accordingly comes with a 3 month warranty... which incidentally is better than the 31 day warranty of the EXC series.

I've ridden the tits off mine and raced it from 2 days old and it's been 100% reliable and I've found parts dirt cheap. No oil leaks and well chuffed with it. I do know of people who've had problems though but usually minor... typically starter gear problem on EXC models (fixed by manufacturer even out of warranty) and I know of 3 people who've had LC4 models with minor oil leaks.

Dunno where you plan to use the SM but you're welcome to take mine for a test ride if you like, I think you'll enjoy it. I'll make sure it's not got the whacko gearing on so you've got a chance of not flipping it.... or of course if you prefer...

Just spoken with Jonny to get me snowboard helmet etc back.....

He says that if he had the money he would definitely get one....he had one of the older ones a few years ago, and says they have ironed out most of the problems now. He used to use his everyday.

He says there are great fun and much more reliable now, he even said that they come with a 2 year warranty now (?) and a much better build quality...His yamaha wr450 only had a 3 month warranty!

The only thing he said is that there are very few dealers and so getting parts etc can be a bit tricky. He knows the shop where the bike is very well - and couldn't speak more highly of them.....

Guess the Huskie is gonna join the R1FAN collection!!!!

510 ok, but i found it a little under powered from standard. it depends what you wants it for. i used to run a very extreme husaberg 650. nothing could touch it power wise, but it ate all my money up just keeping the thing on the road. and of road it just dug holes. i like the ktm range. if your after a usable road bike the lc4 range are a great buy. but if its something you wanna use on the track as well. get the crf450, they kick ass! most of my moto buddies have sold their (huskys, ktms, vertimati, and drz`s) for crf`s, and haven`t looked back. i`m gonna get myself another moto one day. but this time i`m going for something more streetmoto. jets, filter and pipe, and thats it! oh yes, and excels + talons, set of maxis inter, braking wavey disc and master cylinder, set of one of graphics and seat cover, and maybe some carbon goodies. but thats all! man its an expensive game!
